I never planned my wedding.
Never thought about that day when I was young.
I was too busy
Climbing and running,
Playing and laughing.
It was never in my mind
To be married
Seemed so far away
So distant
It seemed useless to think about it.
Who will I marry, if I get married?
When will it happen?
So many people are so concerned with this
So caught up with the when and the how
That they forget the in between bits.
The important part,
Not the big day
But the ones leading up to it.
All the days that come before
And all the days that come after
That are so much more important
Than one day with a white dress and a suit.
Great poem Hanna! I especially like the fact that you talked about how busy you were to plan your "dream wedding" and listed all the things that kids do. I love the thought you put into the last stanza about how its the other days besides the wedding that are important. I believe that it is true that many people think that weddings are just so much fun but they forget how much planning it really takes to pull something off like that.
